Can I dispute this default date??

This is the only default that appears on my credit report and as you can see, the default date is way past the date I started missing payments, it seems like they have changed it themselves :S or I am wrong assuming that?
Anyone know why my pic isn't showing up??
If you right click and get properties/inspect element you can go straight to it

I believe according to OFT guidance a default should be issued within 6months of you not keeping up with repayments. So it does seem that yours has been added on unfairly late. I don't know how successful people have been in having them removed or the date corrected.
Did this company know your address? if they did do you know if you ever received a default notice from them? any chance you would still have it now?
Will try to find a link that might help....
This might help http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/consumer_credit/oft664.pdf
What is the status with this debt now? have you paid? are you in discussions with them about coming to an agreement?
I would suggest in the first instance you perhaps write to whoever put the default on to say it is unfair to place a default marker at such a late stage as it will affect your credit rating for a much longer period that is intended by the legislation. And then I would ask them to remove it. You might want to try bargaining to pay off the debt in return for the default being removed. You could even do it as part of a full & final settlement offer.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
You're are star Tixy!! Thank's!
There's no chance I'd have the default notice now and yes they had an address for me, although I wasn't living there (from 09/03 onwards) and nothing got forwarded to me (it's a long story personal problems etc)0 -
Sorry, the debt is still outstanding, made no contact with them what so ever
But I just want to get everything paid up and settled, isn't there a post somewhere with letter templates? I'll have a rummage for them
And yeah, it does seem fairly late, but I wasn't sure at all, so I asked
Again, thank you so much for your advice0 -
Default Removal - Offer of F&F Settlement
This template may be of some use. You may need to amend for your circumstances but it will give you a starting point at least.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thank's again Tixy!!

Just gone through that leaflet, the statute barred section is the one relevant to me
They actually haven't been in touch with me for quite awhile now, it's just the fact that I think that it's unfairly on my report, as that default date seems way off0
