Free debt management services

Been looking into the free debt management services, which give you advice about dealing with your creditors and solutions for becoming debt free.

I have just seen that the top free debt management company (National Debtline) is supported by the main UK Creditors. How can this be an impartial service if they are run by the people who are chasing us for cash?!

I think for free impartial debt advice, Citizen's Advice is definitely the place to go. I get the impression they are government funded so they are bound to the most balanced.

But should I be taking money advice from the government after the mess they have made of our economy...;)
