If anyne is going on holiday or going to Poole, Dorset, you can save money on your shopping as detailed below.
The Sainsburys store based in Poole town centre (situated in Pitwines Close) has an arrangement with the local council with regards parking fees at the store. If you stay for less than 1hr you pay 80p, for less than 2hrs £1-60, less than 3hrs £2-40, etc.
When you do your shopping in the store, it will then refund you £1-60 irrespective of what parking fee you have paid. So if you have paid 80p for 1hrs parking, the store will give you 80 pence off your shopping. The only condition is that you need to spend at least £5 in the store to get the £1-60 refund. I understand the council actually pay Sainsburys for the 80p loss, which they incur.
When you visit Sainburys in Poole, I suggest that you ensure that you only park for less than 1hr. You can then get yourself several 80p parking tickets. During that hour, I suggest that you visit the store several times to do your shopping; each time trying to spend just over £5. During each of your visits, use one of your parking tickets to get £1-60 refunded back to you. So if your total shopping bill is say over £30, you can save yourself £3-20 on your shopping bill.
You can also do the same trick if you stay for more than 2hrs in the car park and spend more than £1-60 for the privilege. Poole is a lovely town and there is a lot to do as well as see. If you are in this position, just get several parking tickets as detailed above and visit the store several times until you at least get your parking fees refunded.
I do the above everytime that I go to Poole and it works fine for me. It is also very little effort.
Hope this helps someone:).

As a Poole resident I always park in Sainsburys if I want free parking in town although have never gone around the store with several tickets, normally just get bread and milk or something. Crafty!
Unfortunately Poole must be one of the very few towns where there is NO free parking anywhere, and further out there are 2 hour limits or residents permits. Anyone would think it was London. We even have to pay to park at the beach in the dead of winter these days.0 -

Sorry but it seems quite a lot of effort to actually make 80 pence you still have to spend out. Good if you have the time and inclination.0
