I have a glut of turnips in my garden so I have taken one and chopped into wedges and coated it in chilli oil and paprika and put in freezer.
So will this work?
Otherwise I have steamed them and mashed them and again put in freezer for another day.
Some website reccommend blanching them them freezing, what is the point of that?
This is my first year growing my own and its been ace! Turnips have gone ballistic.

I found this website today when I wondered the same thing. It explains why blanching is recommended but also that it's not totally necessary. It also tells you the times you should blanch things for but they made me  because allegedly under/over blanching makes a big difference."Who’s that tripping over my bridge?" roared the Troll.

Thanks, interesting site.
Gawd, now I need to think about blanching!0 -
Dont know about turnips but last year had a glut of swede on allotment.
I just cooked them with carrots, mashed together and put in freezer in lots of containers. Tasted fine when heated in microwave.
I do blanch things like runner beans, sweetcorn etc but some things I just chuck into freezer. Never tasted any different,.0
