Hello everyone....Came back home from a short holiday to find 2 huge courgettes hiding in my garden. One is 2kg and the other is 3kg:eek: . Its my first attempt to grow them. The others I have grown so far have been much much smaller and very tasty.
Just a couple of questions for experienced gardeners .... are these two still considered courgettes and are they still ok to cook with before I spend ages preparing them.....
Thanks so much

That big, I'd say they're marrows now
They should be fine, but I'd go down the 'scoop out the seeds and stuff them' route.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0 -
Hi, Megan. They're now strictly marrows. As Wigginsmum says, you can stuff them. I like bolognese, chilli, or a veg, rice and cheese mix.
Try searching for marrows and you'll find plently of recipes.

Experienced the same Megasaver,
We made Chutney with them & a type of Rataute.
The Ratatue was easy. Slice & remove the central core of seeds. Fry Onion & Garlic then put in the marrow. Later on add the Tomato Sauce.
The Chutney wasn't hard either. 2 Ib of Marrow, an Onion & a Apple. 6oz of Dried Fruit (Sultanas, Currants ot Rasins). Put all the above in a pan & pour in half a pint of Vinegar (any will do). Boil this and then reduce the heat to simmer it.
Add 3/4 lb of Demarara Suger & another 1/2 pint of vinegar.
Simmer until thickish.
Pour into warmed jars that have been in the oven.
Hope this is of help.Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -
You can try stuffing with sausagemeat as well!
doddsyWe must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

At the mo have some marrow baking in the oven so hopefully that will taste ok :rotfl: it was supposed to be a courgette bake but have now adapted it to is a marrow bake!

We just had a massive courgette, it was growing under one of our strawberry plants so we hadn't noticed it until this weekend. I made courgette soup out of it, very nice it was too.0
