What have I done in the last 11 years? What kind of a question is that?
I don't mean to be rude, but I wasn't asking whether you thought I needed to 'drive my car more'. I am more than capable of knowing when I need a new car.

Thanks to everyone else for your help.

Don't pay any attention to Sabastian6, he's a well known spouter of the totally irrelevant. Personally I can't wait for Sabastian7 - the new and improved version.

If you want a loan for a new car then get a loan for a new car.
Just get the best deal you can, which to be fair to you, is all you are trying to do here, and ignore the "I got a half million miles out of my lada riva" brigade.

    You're a long time dead - enjoy !

    Hi

First try your bank. It might be worth going in branch to talk to them to see how likely it is you will be accepted for a loan and at what APR, whilst they can't give you a definitive answer then will be able to give you an idea before you actually have a credit search done.

Generally for low amounts like that the APRs won't be the best but it does sound like a loan is the best solution to fund a car in your situation.
You could also look at the best buys here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/cheap-personal-loans but remember they quote typical APRs not the APRs everyone will get.

Finally before you apply have a look round to see if you could get something suitable for less, the less you borrow the lower the interest and the quicker it is paid off.
