To Caca or not to Caca?!

SA said I could have a one block sample of Caca..but only the noir. She said that the other colours wouldn't work on my black hair unless I lightened it first & she didn't want me to waste my money.
1. My hair is mid to dark brown, NOT black!
2. I wouldn't be wasting any money if I'd had a sample to do a strand test, would I?!
Needless to say, I left empty handed & feeling more than a little 'miffed'!
my daughter doesn't work for them any moreor she'd have got you some & I'd have sent it for you to try

that's so unlike Lush's usual policies & is really mean  what colour did you want?

I wanted to try the Rouge or the Marron as I have seen good reviews for both from people with my colour hair or darker. It seems to be just a matter of personal preference in colour between the two.
What annoys me is that I wasn't even allowed to try them for myself!:(
Many thanks for the very kind offer, so sweet of you!:)0 -

Even on Ebay henna is very cheap. Anyone who wants a cheaper option to Lush Caca could try looking on Ebay if they can.

Many thanks for that.:)
Looking at the mix chats that you posted on Henna for Hair, I could need anywhere between 100g to 400g with my length hair-V confusing!
With the Caca, I reckon I could get two to three applications out of one bar so at around £2.37 a go, I don't think that's too bad.:)
I will bear ebay in mind though as the Lush thing seems to be proving to be V difficult!:(0 -
I can't believe that they didn't give you a free sample in Lush
When I was thinking about using it I got a sample of each. I do spend quite a bit in there though and they remember me when I go in so that could be why.
I was the same as Fuzzy_Duck, the Colour Specialist or whatever they are came over to me in the salon when she heard that I was condsidering using Henna. She advised about the chemical salts and how I wouldn't be able to colour over it.
Although what she said could be true, I have to question the motive. I mean, if we all henna'd our hair it would kind of put her out of a job for a couple of years :rotfl:
I just like to change and didn't want to have to stick with henna or wait for it to grow out. Interesting about the higher grade that can be used on chemically dyed hair.
My friend uses the Henna from Lush and she loves it. Her hair is naturally very dark brown and she uses the noir and red one. It turns her hair a lovely shiney reddish tinted colour hair. She said it was really messy though but good condition.0 -

I too spend rather a lot in there & online. My dd spends a lot of her pocket & present money in there whenever we go in to town too!
Like I said before, I find them less than generous in there when it comes to freebies but saying that, there was a group of OAPs in there when I was trying to get the Caca & they were being showered with freebies! When we went past the shop again on our way home, they were back in there again getting more stuff!
I gather you had the samples, but didn't take the plunge in the end?
I tend to agree with your theory on hairdressers!:D
Your friend's hair sounds gorgeous!:)0 -

If its any help, I used Henna (from Lush) on my hair about 5 years ago, I read about the chemical dye issue but thought nothing of it and assumed my hair would take anything, (I had been a hair model for many years, been bleached, tinted, shaved, everything even in the front window of Vidal Sassoon- my claim to fame!) I felt my hair was invincible as they would really basicly do everything with my hair and some of the treatments were really quite harsh! I assumed the stuff about henna was either just a rumour or that they would easily overcome it.
However, it was only on getting my hair dyed at a salon (again as a model) and nearly failing the student that I realised there was some truth to it- hair will take the dye at first, but will show a definate tone difference where the henna was, as you wash the difference becomes greater, eventually you have two-tone hair! I ended up cutting mine off a few months later.0 -

Oh, I'm not disputing that that may be the case at all! Of course there will be some effect on any colour that you might dye your hair with in the future, but I have heard hairdressers tell clients that their hair will melt &/or fall out! Some hairdressers however appreciate that henna treated hair can be a little more challenging, but if they are informed of it's use, there are ways for them to still colour your hair apres henna.0 -
Just seen this in Asda (Clapham Common) for 59p.
It's 100g of Pakistani Henna powder.0 -
