Change my number?

Hi
I am still being plagued with phone calls from my debtors, despite me not answering and leaving it to go to answerphone for 6 - 12 months now! I have sent the no calls request at least twice now and am wondering if theres a point in having a landline at all as I dont answer it very often. I am just about to send my paperwork to NDL in hope of applying for a DRO.
Does anyone know if these creditor calls classed as nuisance calls and if so could I change our telephone number for free ??
Many thanks.

It is certainly a possibility, however are you sure you sent the letters to every DCA that is on your back? and did you send them via recorded delivery? finally have you sent them a follow up letter to the stop calling letter? if so they are breaking the law and you can report them.TOTAL AT START £13606.90 27/03/2018

Hi Crisp, if the calls are from the same numbers and you know what they are, then you can have them barred. Changing numbers is a possibility, but its a right old hassle, as you have to let everyone know your new number - those you want to know of course;) And I'm not sure if you'll have to pay for it:eek:0

Hi yes I am sure and sent them recorded delivery I keep a checklist lol. To be honest I really have lost the will to be bothered with reporting them.
I know I am moaning on the one hand and not following up my actions on the other but I just want to have some peace and quiet, starting to think I have tinnitus

A lot of the calls are coming up as International, Unknown or Witheld or there are several numbers used but I know theyre from DCA's because of the messages they leave (or dont as more often the case is just an annoying silence, screeching tone or recorded message asking for someone who doesnt live here - aka me but they cant pronounce my name properly as it is Welsh so it sounds like something completely different, even change my sex
).
One of the calls often displays as last number dialled out, yet when answered by answerphone will definately be DCA!  Hence why ALL our incoming calls are now screened with answerphone.
Thanks

:rotfl: Yes I'm Welsh as well, and those LL's and CH's can take some getting used to;) Try speaking to them in Welsh, that'll confuse them:eek:0

We are in the early stages of setting up with CCCS and all creditors have had their first letters. The only one who keeps ringing - with the same four numbers - is Barclaycard. Sussed it as soon as they started calling and barred all of their numbers via the answer-phone system we have and caller ID is great so you can screen all your calls as you have I see. You can bar up to 20 calls on it. They ring about five or six times a day when I have bothered to check but of course we are not aware of this as the phone doesn't ring. I even accidentally barred my own mobile one week as I don't know my own number LOL What happens is it rings (silently) and then goes dead on them. I know the calls are all done by computer on a round robin then if anyone answers their call one of their 'operators' would pick it up. No messages have been left yet - they won't be getting any calls back.LBM: June 2010 DMP started: 1/8/2010

Hi
Another simpler and very effective solution would be to purchase A Truecall Unit, it is the best £80 I have ever spent. Basically it plugs into your phone line and the only calls that ever reach you are those you have added to the unit, ie friends/family. No more hassle from creditors or sales people

I am tempted to get a Truecall unit, however I cannot currently afford one.We changed our number when we started our dmp as lloyds were never off the phone to us. I rang our supplier and said we were getting nusiance calls so they changed it free of charge.
Thanks. I will call up my provider and ask what they can do, not with BT and neither is my line rental so fingers crossed. Changing a number is a lot less hassle especialy as I dont have many people call me who I do want to talk to anymore!
Thanks
