Saturday Night-What would you have done pre-MSE?

Evening to one and all!

Just got thinking, whilst waiting for my store cupboard dinner to cook, what I would have been doing on a saturday night pre my lightbulb about 5 months ago!

Most likely out for dinner with the boyfriend, paid on credit card, rented film from blockbuster or would have shop-bought one for the evening.....
Or expensive takeaway.........
either way would have cost me circa £45 for an evenings entertainment....
And then theres the new outfit and underwear to add on........ another £50?

So what does everyone else think they would be doing right now, if it hadnt been for the light that is MSE?

I'd have been out on the town already by this time.

Only difference now is that I go out later with friends and we take it in turns to drive to save on taxis. Sometimes dont drink either!!

May still pop out for one or two later!
  • Probably out having a wonderful meal at the local - very expensive but wonderful Chinese Restaurant...or.....(sigh!).. those were the days

I take great comfort in these forums - lovely people and great advice - and it's comforting to know we are all doing our best in trying circumstances. I'm still too shy and embarrassed to post my SOA but I've found the advice given to others very, very helpful and am avidly taking notes. I'd been signed up for Martin's weekly emails for quite a long time before I ventured on to the forums and am very glad I did.

    Thanks everyone!:T

    Debt-free and Proud!
I'd have been out for pub then club, or more likely, gig then club no doubt. Instead I'm sitting at home on my tod wondering how the OH can afford to go to the pub if I can't

  • Would have been damn happier!!

I guess my Saturday night would have started around midday with five or six mates, at our local, sitting ouside with a few bevvies, heading into our local Weatherspoons then nightclub later on. Pizza and taxi on the way home, and I'd be £80 shorter with a steaming hangover the next morning.

Now I only go out two Saturday's a month, tonight I'm in, a bottle of wine and a few beers, some crisps to watch Match of the day with, and then wake up with a steaming hangover tomorrow morning!

I miss those days, I miss living where I used to live and the mates I used to always see... :(

  • I would have been out pubbin n clubbin before.

Tonight though, same as most weekend nights nowadays - staying in, me n OH just had BOGOF pizzas out of freezer - £2.98 for 2, glass of wine and OH just gone up to bed as he's out to work at 1.30 in the morning so I'm left sittin on me own with the computer for company!!:D

A lot cheaper now though eh?;)

Am I the only boring one here then?

Pre lightbulb, I would've still been sat here with my OH and the kids watching a bit of telly :o
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

lol I've got to agree my life was probably as un-interesting pre-lightbulb as it is post-lightbulb just more expensive!

Although I fear this thread is serving to depress us all further!!!!

So lets get happy, pre mse I would have spent my saturday spending a fortune and worrying about it at the end of the month, now I dont spend as much as dont worry as much.

    Woohoo xx
