Poor suffering kettle is on its last legs due to the endless cups of coffee. I would like to be an eco warrior and get a suitable kettle for my new personae. Can any recommend a money saving model?

Debenhams currently sell and eco friendly jug kettle for £25.
Brushed metal Eco jug kettle - SJM150
You could also try searching the MegaShopbot as well.0 -
Have you used it? Is it any good?0

I might be wrong but I think the most eco friendly approach is to only boil the amount of water you need for each cup...I would pop over to the green board and they will know more than me0

I would normally agree with 1jim about only boiling the amount of water you need though I think the concept behind these kettles is they are supposed to boil much quicker than conventional kettles. Due to this fact you would save more money as well as the environment as you would be using less electricity. Not a bad incentive I suppose.
I do agree though that you would probably get a better response on the green board, there's bound to be more people on there with more experience of these types of products.0 -
Off to the green board I go!0

Eco Kettle (ECO3) with Temperature Control
Don't forget to shop around for better prices. Try the Mega Shopbot for straters.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I haven’t actually used the Kenwood SJM150.0 -
I have one of the first eco kettles that came out (I won two of them, other one still in attic!), it is double chambered, you fill the first chamber then press a button to put the right amount of water into the second. It is fast and quiet, but if you need a lot of water you have to do it in two batches! Also, if you boil a lot of water the handle gets quite hot.
I like it, but I think I am the only onen in the house that does! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
The one thing that concerns me about these kettles is the power surge, do they come on slower than conventional kettles or are they the same? If it’s the same then surely this defies the purpose.0

very interested in this article, I recently purchased an eco friendly kettle to find out it was just a sales gimmick, has anyone had similar experience?0
