Visa debit card chargeback - I still don't understand

I know there are lots of threads on chargeback but I am still unclear.
In my situation I bought flights directly form the airline, Cyprus Turkish Airlines, on their website in May. They went bust in June but another airline, AtlasJet are offering to convert the ticket over to them for £15-20 BUT they don't fly anywhere near me or where I need to go in Turkey. When I heard they went bust I bought another ticket as I need to go on specific dates and thought I could deal with this after. I am £377 out of pocket and just want my money back.

Will activating or requesting an activation of chargeback on my debit card (which is with Barclays bank) negate the fact that Atlasjet are offering conversion of tickets?
Is this a method that will guarantee your money back?
Can anyone shed any light? Please???

The main principle in a chargeback is breach of contract.

I'm pretty sure that you could provide that seeing as even taking the new offer, it would be changing some of the fundamental basics. Someone in your bank may be able to tell you for sure though.

I'm sure you have 120 days from the day the flight is due to depart to file the claim (google will probably give you more info).

    Thank you unholyangel.
I spoke to my bank (Barclays) they have said that because the company hasn't gone into administration I have to call AtlasJet or CTA (they called them "the merchant") to get my money back. I explained that this was at the moment anticapatory breach as even AtlasJet would not be able to fulfill the contract. They weren't interested. What do I do? Any ideas? Should I just write the letter anyway?
