Littlewoods Payment Problems

I have just received my statement for my Littlewoods account. I thought I'd do the decent thing and call them to advise that payment would be about 4 days late, and as I work in credit control myself, know that people are having to be a little more understanding! Not with this phone company.... I was dutifully informed that they would not be able to make any allowance and that it WILL go against my credit file.
I am aware that their statements are on a 28 day cycle and this will sometimes mean two payments in a month but I think a little give and take wouldn't go a miss!
Are they allowed to be so steadfast on this matter or should I ring again and speak to a manager?

If they have a set payment schedule, how can there possibly be any 'complaint'?
It seems to be a black and white case. I guess their policy is as they say 28 days and not 'about 32 days'.0 -
Hi LCS, I can tell you from experience that they will not budge:mad: And if your payment is not within the 28 days they will slap a £12 late payment charge on it!!!! Without going into a long boring story, my oh was paying an Empire debt (ex wifes:mad:) that had been passed to Droyds DCA. We paid the min £1 for years, then last year we had a letter off Shop Direct saying they were taking the debt back and to just carry on as normal, which we did. This went on for a couple of months, then I noticed there was £12 charge, so I phoned them up and asked what it was for, they said it was for late payment. Anyway I ended up asking for a CCA, which they couldn't find, so they passed it on to Lowells. So I asked them for a CCA, they couldn't find it and passed it back to Shop Direct and I've heard nothing since. I made it plain to Shop Direct that I had no intention of paying the charges as the original debt had been paid - in fact it had been overpaid. But they were adamant that they would not budge!! Our DD's and SO's all come out on the 1st of the month and have done for years. But what really annoyed me was that they told me to carry on as normal and then just started charging without prior warning!!:mad: You can certainly try, but I don't hold out much hope:(0

I do understand that but I'd be a millionaire if i had a pound for every time my customers paid on time (and obviously i'm not seeing as im in this situation)... and yes i work for a company of a similar size!!
Also, this is the first time this has happened in years and i am a platinum customer with them and it's not as if I'm not going to pay or can't pay!0 -
Hi LCS,
The catalogue companies and all credit institutions (Banks included) provide umbrellas for you to use when it's sunny and take them away when there is a threat of rain. You'll probably find your already paying a large interest rate or inflated prices for the privilege of shopping with them, so do seriously consider voting with your feet and shopping elsewhere in future. If they charge a late payment phone and complain and they may remove it, but don't be surprised if they don't.
Good luck in getting sortedIf you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.
£2 savings jar £300:D
Total credit card debts £1250:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: - Will I ever learn!!0 -
I really do think that there should be a bit of "wiggle" room, as you can end up paying twice in one month, and if people are already on the edge it can push them over!!!0

O believe me i will be doing that bottleofred. I want to get it all cleared and then they've lost my business, as will their sister company Marshall Ward.0
