Ladies.... I Need your help!!

Hello,

Firstly, I am male, and I need some urgent fashion assistance...

I am going on a 'special' works outing to a raceday, and I have been told it's formal, but no hats etc.

I really do not have a clue what to wear!! I don't just want to turn up in my usual work suit.

It's an afternoon and night do, with a sit down dinner as well.

To make things more challenging for you, I am on a bit of a budget, don't really want to spend more than £100 - £150 max! I am also rugby build and don't really suit the slimmer/tight fitting clothing ranges :o

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Have a look on the racecourse website, there will be a dress code on there. to be honest, a suit is absolutely fine, you can always get a coloured shirt or a funky tie - make sure you take a tie, cos some courses insist on one being worn for certain enclosures. you need to be comfortable, and thats about it really - smart and comfy !!!

Im dead jealous, which course you going to - can I come??!!!

As long as its a dark grey pinstripe, pink tie is fine,

My daughter reckons my fashion advice is rubbish but.... for what it's worth, what about a blazer and flannels/smart slacks i.e. just to ring the changes from your normal work suit? Don't forget the silk hanky in the top pocket (matching your tie colour) or is that reeeeallly naff advice? :rotfl:

Think pink looks great on a man too; especially with a black or navy blue shirt. (Or, of course, yellow is supposed to be indicative of 'power dressing' ;) i.e. yellow with black/navy NOT yellow with pink:eek:)

Personally, I like contrasting cuff and collars which will still look smart for your evening do if you want to take off your jacket and tie.

Hope that helps rather than hinders! 'Without Prejudice' :D

too right - theres definately something about a man in a suit....

I once got told "never trust a man with two phones OR a man who wears yellow...." (no idea why for the yellow, but for some reason Ive always gone along with it!)

pink is cool though - specially on a rugby shaped man.... mmmmmmm

    Ladies Ladies!!!

    Control yourselves!! hehehehe

Any ideas where is a good place for decent suits within my budget?
  • Some people are going to faint at my suggestion, but when hubby and I got caught out away from home, invited to a very posh dinner, his flash navy blazer with lime green lining was a bit inappropriate - we dashed into Primark and found an amazingly good grey pinstripe suit, linen white shirt and pink silk tie all for just under £100. There is one brand of clothes for men in Primark which seems a bit better quality, cut etc. Look for the label Butler & Web.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!
