Money from a relative who died intestate

My great uncle died a few years ago. I didn't know him as he fallen out my Gran (who died after him) about 50 years ago.
He probably only had a few thousand if that. However is it too late to get any money if there was any?

If he died intestate the whole of his estate would have gone to his next of kin legally.
No one else would have a claim and its probably long been spent now.
You have no claim on it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

The next of kin was my gran (who did not get it) as he had no children. So surely we do have a claim. If he died intestate the whole of his estate would have gone to his next of kin legally.

How long ago did he die? Do you know for certain he died intestate? Was he married? If he was married and died before his wife she would have inherited all his estate and if she then died intestate the estate would have been divided between her blood relatives - and you would not be included in thatJohn0

This is from https://www.lawontheweb.co.uk/basics/wills.htm#Dying%20without%20leaving%20a%20Will%20(intestate)%20-%20Who%20gets%20what?
If you are not lawfully married, have no children, but have parents or have had brothers/sisters/grandparents/aunts/uncles
Your estate will be shared equally amongst them in this order of priority - parents; brothers/sisters; half brothers/sisters; grandparents; aunts/uncles; spouses of aunts/uncles. If any of these have predeceased, but have living children then the children will take their parent's share.
It looks possible that you should have had something but if the money has been distributed and spend, it's unlikely you'll get anywhere pursuing it.0 -

If your gran was his next of kin, and there was some estate,
then why did she not get it. I presume you are working on what other people have told you.
Another thought though, if they were estranged and the authorities could not find any next of kin then
his estate would have gone into the government coffers. No chance at this stage to get anything.
Anyway, you have no proof of anything.
Was your Gran his only sister, did he still have his parents,
You are not any worse off,
Say your gran got 3K, spent half of it and died intestate, her next of kin would get what was left, then would have spent it.
Either way, there is nothing there.
you re flogging a dead horse, matey. I would just move on.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

She had fallen out with him and did not see him for 50 odd years. When she found that he had died :-If your gran was his next of kin, and there was some estate,

1) She was coming to the end of her life
2) Was not that interested in money anyway.
It has only taken me 30 minutes so far to do this today. And now I have the links 5 minutes (when I get the details from my Mum) to find out if it is worth pursuing. Even if there is a 1 in 10 chance that I get £2K - then it is worth it.0 -

I have re-read your post and it doesnt actually say that he died intestate.
Sorry, my answer mentioned intestate.
But I dont understand why you think you can make a claim to any of this. What makes you think that.
He may have made a will and left anything he had to the dogs home or his friends
If him and your gran were estranged he probably wouldnt have wanted her to inherit anything and acted on it.
If there was no contact for 50 years, it speaks for itself. I think you have seen £ signs and got excited.
Again, forget about it, you are entitled to absolutely nothing and its not worth pursuing.

The title does, however.I have re-read your post and it doesnt actually say that he died intestate.Again, forget about it, you are entitled to absolutely nothing and its not worth pursuing.
His mother, presumably, may be however by being the child of the sister under intestacy rules.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0
