can any one help me get my mums charges back?

my mums credit card (capital one) has been passed onto a debt collection agency but about (not sure of total yet) £600.00 of the debt is purely charges, now if i can i want to get these back i have seen other on this site do it now i want to do it :D i would love to do it in my name but i am never od and havent got a credit card so never get charged...

so i have been reading this site http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/capital-one/ as posted by lynz but it doesnt say if you can claim even if the debt has been passed on? and also where do i start? that site is a mountain of information and i dont know where to start, i am now off to get my mums statements and tally up the cost of all her charges, i think she has the statements... well i hope she does....
