Has anyone got a family member or friend to cut their hair? Did you use any instructions from the web or do you have any tips advise (other than 'no! don't do it!') Thanks.

Hi,
I think it depends on how long your hair is. With longer hair its far easier to get away with mistakes should you make them. I have followed instructions from youtube regarding cutting side-swept-bangs, and have got a family member to cut the longest layer of hair straight but my hair is down to my waist and I cant view the back.
I would say get yourself a proper pair of hair trimming scissors if your going to attempt it.0 -
hi, thanks for your reply, my hair is fairly long but also wavy. Hair scissors are definately a good idea!0

I have long waist length hair. I've recently discovered how to cut my side swept fringe via youtube, I was thrilled as it turned out perfectly, and no hairdresser has ever got it quite right (barring a tiny place in Katmandu, believe it or not!) My daughter saw an advert for hair models in a local salon and I've been getting my hair trimmed for free - just takes a long time, but I have to say they do a very good job.No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0

I have longish hair & have been doing it myself for a few years using the instructions in this link. Works well for me. Good luck.

I sometimes do this but my hair is waist length and nearly all one length (growing out a fringe) - I use the straight across method. I started this because I wasn't happy paying £40 to have one inch trimmed off my hair! Now however, I found a hairdresser who only charges £5 and does exactly what I ask so I'd rather have it done by someone else!0
