Ebay do not allow users to register unless they are 18, therefore to have registered he made a false declaration. More worryingly he must have either used a fixed email address, ie AOL or NTL etc and ebay would assume that the person who runs that account is the seller, or he must have used a UK debit or credit card. There are instances where a solo card has been used but with those cards it is rare for ebay to allow the seller much leeway in running up a large bill.

There are underage sellers, in fact there are some on the ebay forum but in most cases they are using someone else credit or debit card, and in that case the person who holds that debit or credit card will be liable.

If it were my child I would want to closely question how they managed to register to make sure my cards were not compromised in anyway. The recent case of a young person running up several thousand pounds worth of debts to an online casino using his fathers card springs to mind.

So is it for an older child of his that he is trying to justify the non-payment of car insurance in another thread?
