They're trying to say it's my debt! It's not!

Hi

I have an account with Vertbaudet Which i have managed myself. When i was in my previous house with my previous partner (who i now don't see) he had an account with the same company. I moved last september and a few omnths ago i got a bill from them with a different account number sayinmg i owed over £250, i queried this and they said the tenants of my previous property had written in and said the debt was mine! I don't even know them so how they came up with that i don't know. I had to write a written statement saying the debt was not mine which i did, but still every month the statements were coming through. I wrote a letter of complaint twice, only reciving a response last week where they said, no they did not have a signed copy of a credit agreement with me as i did not open the account but as my ex had used the same email as me and that alledgedly the person whose name was on the account had left the property before the orders had been place, i don't know where they got this from. Then they said my account was not opened in dec 05 but oct 05, like that makes any difference.

Now i have to write another written statement saying this is not my debt.

I feel like i am banging my head aganist the wall, is this harrasement???? Is there someone i can go to to complain about this, i don't ned all this hassle!!!

Cheers

Can you give them you ex's address and explain it is his debt - they can chase him up instead.

I wish, i haven't seen or heard from him in nearly three years. Funny how i didn't get any mail for this debt in my old house???

Have you checked your credit history? You could be financially linked to him, and you want to get that taken off ASAP.

Do you have an address of his parents? Where he works? Anything?
