  • it is 20 quid cheaper than ive seen it anywhere else, so if you're looking for a 160 gig drive it is a great deal. but you still probably get better value per megabyte by buying a 400 or 500 gig drive. (which is probably why have starting reducing the prices of the smaller drives like this one.)
  • Blimey that is good, shame it doesn't have FireWire too!

Thanks, just bought one after much consideration. Just what I've been looking for, at a price that I can understand. Will report back once received and working. Apparently the reviews say it's really easy to copy my existing laptop 40gb over... We'll see. Once I've done that I should have about 100gb to play with. :j

Sorry if this is already posted but I had a quick scout about and didn't see it. That must be the cheapest I've seen for a brand name.

  • looks pretty darn cheap - need something like this for my laptop - although I have a crappy USB 1 interface..
  • sorry but does anyone know of a good external hard drive that connects to a routher via ethernet?
  • Hi

Just ordered one of these. Gotta be worth it if you've more than one computer or just need to backup a large hard disc.

    Thanks to the op

Mine hasn't arrived yet sadly, so now I'm spending my time worrying about my laptop trying to start some programs from the c:drive after I've copied and deleted them to the new drive. Will this cause instability or system conflicts by running programs from a completely new drive, because my laptop still has a memory of their orginal locations??? In particular, iTunes, Sims, Audacity etc...... Am I even making sense anymore???;)

    Maybe I'll get it tomorrow...

  • OGB03,

For most programs, details are stored within the registry during installation so moving an application to an alternate drive may cause problems - renaming the original program directories after transferring to new drive will indicate which ones will have problems. If you are just looking to move data such as audio/video files, you should be OK.

Unless you use something like Norton Ghost to copy the entire drive (including registry, the lot)
