E-ON Incorrect letter.

Having battled with E-on over a bill they seemed to get wrong on numerous occasions I now find myself in a strange spot.
This dates back to Xmas 2008, E-ON my then gas and electric suppliers managed to fail to move my accounts to a new address on 3 occasions.
Wrongfully I removed all the credit I had amounted in a fit of anger.
They then produced a final bill but had removed my previously fully paid bill (with no explanation) and estimated the costs on that billing date.
Four bills and four estimates later, 6 months of waiting and then two months of "discussion" with customer services I sent the complaint to the Ombudsman.
They didn’t find in either parties favour but suggested a reasonable discount.
So I then contact E-ON to set up a payment agreement. However I forgot to pay the first months, I received the usually we haven’t received your payment and therefore would look to sending it to a debit collecting company.
The interesting thing is they had my balance as £0.00. So I contacted E-ON and they apologised, they letter was sent as a mistake, could I disregard the letter as the balance was £0.00 and the letter should have not been sent. I asked to speak to a customer service manager, who again apologised for the error and then confirmed that the balance was £0.00 and to ignore the letter as I owed them nothing. I asked him to look again and he did and came back as a zero balance.
What do I do be honest :A or just take it as a gift :rotfl:.

Hi Pete,
I'd love to tell you to accept the gift the incompetent idiots at Eon have offerred. However, while this may work for a short time, what happens if they then come after you for the cash? Only you can decide what you want to do really.
Good luckIf you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

Since they messed it up and have now confirmed the balance owed is £0.00. I would leave it for now.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Hi Pete
I'm really sorry we have messed around with your billing so much.
Must admit, I'm guessing here but I suspect the zero balance on the account is what is actually showing on the Account History screen when our agents look at the computer.
If I might explain. After a while, balances on closed accounts are transferred from the Account History section of our systems and put into a debt follow up pot.
Whilst this reduces the balance to zero on the screen, the debt continues to be active and will be picked up by our credit management people.
As I say, I could be wrong but this is what immediately hit me about your post.
If this is the case, I really must apologise again as not only did the agent misunderstand the process but so did their manager which is just not acceptable.
Give me a shout if I can help further as will be happy to do so. Drop an email to the address in my Profile if you prefer.
