Welcome Finance settlement paid, help needed.

I was looking for a bit of advice. I settled a welcome finance loan in Jan 2008 and am still waiting for this to be shown as satisfied/settled on my credit file. I have rang and wrote to them numerous times and still nothing has been sent to me or amended on my file. I rang today and the staff member suggested writing to complaints dept but with past experience i shouldn't hold out too much hope. If i eventually do receive confirmation in writing or my credit file changed, will they show it as satisfied from now or from the date in which it was actually paid. If i get a letter from them stating the date it was cleared can i send this off directly to credit file companies for them to amend it on strength of letter.

You have a number of options, raise an official complaint (send by registered mail, so you have proof of delivery) stating they have 40 business days in which to resolve the matter to your satisfaction or you will raise it with the ombudsman.

If after this time, they've still not sorted it out call the ombusdman helpline it's free and easy (apart from the call) may take a little time - you may even be eligible for compensation.


Alternatively, contact each credit agency after verifying it's still on their records (£2 each) and ask them to remove it, they should contact Welcome Finance, verify and update the status as applicable.
