19 days till wedding photographer just cancelled.

hello

i dont knwo how to feel right now. someone advertised on here wanting to boost their photography portfolio by photographing someones wedding. i offered my wedding...we really cant afford a photograper...and im the one who takes pics in our family bit hard as im the bride lol......they were going to do a disc with our pictures for our use and they wouldve held the copyright to use as the wanted i.e their website.
we signed a contract to say that it was free, and where and when etc they would be doing it.

i emailed her today to make sure they didnt need any more info, bearing mind i get married in 19 days! she replies saying hes been in hospital with kidney stones since begining of july. I understand that hes ill etc and hes been told hes not allowed to drive, fair enough.

i am now stuck withouta photographer and to be fair if i hadnt emaild them then i may not have found out till the day and been really stuck.

we dont have any money to pay anyone...(my aunties are even doing our reception) my dress is being made (35 pounds) everything is really low budget, i know its about the marriage...it truelly is for us but it wouldve been nice to have some 'proper' photos to look back on.

dont suppose theres anyone out there in the NORWICH area wanting to boost their portfolio??

feelinga little down now lol x

Just a thought - could you try calling some of the colleges in Norwich that offer photography courses? Maybe one of the students would do it in exchange for the pics for their portfolio?

    Local Paper?
    College?
Maybe even go to your local camera shop and see if they know anyone?

    Desperate times - desperate measures.

If you have signed a contract then I am sure that you will have some come back on that - but for the
time being, concentrate on getting someone who can take the photos x
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??

I'm doing my mums photo's on saturday for her wedding.. would any of your guests give it a go?

I'm into photography, but I'm nothing special, but she wants 'real' shots and not the fake ones.

Someone with a decent DSLR camera and a bit of enthusiasm and you might get some decent shots.

Also - maybe ask your local radio station -they might do an interview with you, someone will hear and you will get an offer of help..?
It really is worth a try x

Aww i'm sorry, someone should have phoned you, free or not, that is no way to try and start/boost a business. i echo what others have said the thing is with a digital camera people can take loads of pics a few are bound to turn out well, especially if there is someone who quite likes photography coming.

Contacting someone at a local college or uni is a great idea, Norwich University College of the Arts has a photography course, so perhaps one of the academics could put someone in touch with you. Also I think appealing on the radio is a great idea, I heard someone do this recently for transport and people were so generous.
