Where to start???

I have around £4,500 of debt (currently being moved to a 0% card) and I am moving shortly into rented accommodation where I can share bills etc. and I know exactly what my outgoings will be.
So, where should I start with becoming good with my money?
I was thinking of starting a spending diary to see where all the little amounts go (a coke here, a paper there etc.).
Any other ideas?

Only take cash with you when you do your weekly shop. And keep it to a fixed amount. Too easy to throw a few extras and luxuries and that bill will soon double, easy to pay if you have your card with you, not so easy if you've only got £30 in cash in your pocket..0
