Thought I would pass this info on - hope it may help somebody. This information was in our local free community paper .

There is a new counselling centre based at the Oakwood Centre in Eaglescliffe, Stockton on Tees. Set up by the national charity Christians against Poverty and the Tees Valley Community Church. They offer advice and help to people in the area suffering from financial difficulties.
Quote ' The local branch of Christians Against Poverty offers clients a special account and insolvency service to help them pay off their priority debts. Staff also negotiate with creditors and work out a realistic budget, which prioritises food and essential bills while aiming to free debtors within 5 years'.
The centre manager is called Julie Parker and their contact number is 01642 785983, they are open on mondays, tuesdays and thursdays 9 to 5.

Sounds good - are they national or purely local?
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

  • Yes I have heard of this but I am told they are a charity and not specialists. Therefore they try hard to help but are not the answer to getting out of debt.

Bodies like this can give wonderful ,spiritual, support though
