Sorry, but as someone on the other foot, I don't think 15% is unreasonable, though remember they will take off a % for any nights you have his son to stay. Its not his son's fault his mother and father are not together and it is for his upbringing, and they do not take any of your income into the amount either.

I agree that it isnt unreasonable, it is a lot of money when we can not afford it, but it is the arrears that are the problem for us at the moment.

I didnt realise that they take a % off for the nights he stayed, that hasnt been accounted for either, thank you for that.

Gosh, that seems crazy, it seems like there isnt anything we can do then.

Unfortunately a percentage of non compliant NRPs would rather increase their outgoings then spend money on their child/ren. That's why it became a percentage of net income. Unfortunately a percentage of non compliant NRPs are fiddling their net income and not declaring income and so there is talk of it being a percentage of gross income based on tax returns.

No doubt when and if that happens then the same percentage of non compliant NRPs will find a new 'loophole'.

Unfortunately it does mean honest NRPs pay the price for their dishonest compatriots :(

If you divide up your total arrears (not monthly) and then divide them by 24 the CSA should be more lenient with the repayment of them, as they have to recover within 2 years (policy though, not law). If you can show that you are happy to repay within that timescale, but over longer than you currently are, they should be more happy to be flexible. What have you suggested to them so far?

unless the mum lies and says u never have them overnight as its all taken on her word and in their words theres nothing we can do except maybe keep a diary but again if mum says differently it will go on her words!

no they dont always... they made a mistake with my hubbys and told him 7 months after he was reviewed that he was now in arrears (we didnt even know about the review) to the tune of £900 and they took it all over 2 months even tho he has never missed a payment etc no matter how many times he said we couldnt afford it just b4 xmas last year they wasnt having none of it at all!
always send a smile as it costs nothing..
