can spots distort tattoos?

I am not seeking medical advice but want to hear the experiences of those with tattoos.

I was diagnosed with shingles at the weekend and the rash is on my lower back at my tattoo. If there is any scarring will this distort my tattoo and can it be redone on top of any distortion?

I am not looking for any advice about shingles as I don't want the thread closed but am hoping I won't have to go and get the tattoo redone as I could do without having to spend the money on it. Very MSE :money:

I don't know from personal experience but a lot of people get tattoos done over scarring to hide it, so it shouldn't be a problem!

My tattooist retouched mine for free- I think quite a few tattooists offer this service for free assuming you haven't caused the distortion/loss of ink by scratching or not caring for it as advised :)
