50:50 Access- Let ex claim Child benefit- help

Hi All,
Have had 50/50 share care for 4 years.
It works well and relativly amicable (divorced).
I let him keep the house and moved out, he gave me half the equity and we agreed care arrangements for our daughter out of court.
Over a year ago he claimed for the child benefit (I wa receiving it) they stopped it and he said, as I claimed the tax credits, he should get it to pay for clothes etc, s to be reasonable I agreed.
He works full time and I work part time, he pays for school dinners, I pay for all child care.
He has now put in a counter claim for the child tax credits and I have just received a letter saying they have stiopped mine as I dont have responsibility for my child (I guess this relates to the child benefit?)
I did not realise who ever has this, has parental responsibility.
I know he will get much less money than I currently claim and he's crap with money, always late for school dinners, I'm sure he wont pay the childcare.
What can I do?
We literally have her 50/50, no more or less in a year.
Does this have other implications for him to have legal rights for her?
Could he be trying to get sole custody or something?
I dont think he's devious, just greedy and stupid, but I could be wrong.
Do I have a leg to stand on to contest him getting the child benafit and or the tax credits?
They also seem to be backdating this to April 09, will they try to claim back the credits they have already paid me? (I have receipts for all the childcare I've paid for).
If he has just made a mistake, and talls them to cancel his claim, is this likely to still mess up my claim for tax credits for the forseeable future?
Please help!
Really stressed!
