Working from home...help me!!!...

Well my partner wants to start up a Hollistic therapy business which is definitely going ahead over the next couple of years. My ideas vary but include moving into the retail sale of Hollistic therapy based products such as Aromatherapy oils (homemade) - Crystals - crystal display units - Reiki and Hollistic paintings (which i paint myself) and many other relevant products. Ideally we'd have a store with a treatment room attached - i would run the store and my partner would perform her treatments. it's just getting the capital to set up the business in the first place. With no assets, poor credit history and debts, how do we get there?!!!
Hi Rob,
Just seen this. It's a good idea, but maybe not a good time in the economic cycle to commit capital to
However, if your OH has transport, she could become a mobile therapist, going into people's homes with a portable treatment table (my neighbour with a back problem had a sports masseur who used to come to their house), also maybe residential homes etc. Then you wouldn't need premises.
It is also possible to hire a room in a clinic for one or two days per week. The fee includes the receptionist and bills and, shared out between the therapists, can be reasonable.
Then you can use her business name to increase visibility on the web, selling holistic/new age stuff, especially information - if you can write booklets, eg how reiki works, achieving balance in your life etc. This is all adding value, and can tie in with the practical therapy side.
Just a few possibilities.

Hiya,
There's a couple of customer service jobs on here Arise thread and the teletech thread who are now recruiting, there's also contract x change looking for staff for tesco.
Can't vouch for them but they are at home and your sat down so nothing too physical and they are not scams.:footie:ROBF08AFC:footie:0 -

Have you looked at the thirty day challenge, this is good free way to teach you the basics of setting up a website and marketing it, they ultimatley would like you to buy the product at the end of the 30 days but i didn't
And i learned a lot of useful stuff, you can do it at your own pace, i was always several days behind0 -
Do you have any savings you could use to perhaps start your own business or something?0

Sorry to sound a negative note, but you mentioned proofreading. My sincere advice is to forget this completely. It is a very difficult field to get into, and work comes mainly through contacts. I have been slowly building up my reputation over the past three years and I can tell you that it is still not a full-time career.
I would suggest concentrating on your artwork, as that can easily be accommodated around your health. Also look into ways that you can use the art to make money, other than selling it directly. For example, licence the image for use on cards, prints, notebooks, plates, anything ...0 -

I wish !! been struggling all my life and have huge debts...it's tough cos i know if was given the chance to set up and run the business i could pay off my debts....its just always a vicious circle...once you're tarnished with bad debt it's like a prison sentence until it's cleared and you cannot get the help to clear it!:footie:ROBF08AFC:footie:0 -

Thankyou again Sunshine!! x:footie:ROBF08AFC:footie:0 -
I don't know for sure, but I imagine you can. What made me think of the idea was that if you sell a piece of art, you only get a one-off payment. If you can maximise what you earn from your work, so mch the better!
Something to look into, anyway.0
