Getting ready for Christmas... need stocking ideas for adults!

Christmas this year is tight to say the least as we're having to do it on one income (though I'm desperately hoping I'll be in employment soon!) even so, with us still trying to shift debts, we've started Christmas shopping already, buying little bits here and there if we have any money left over from the previous week.
I am so very stuck for stocking filler ideas for the adults though! I have my husband, Dad and brother who always spend Christmas with us and the budget per stocking is £12. After trying to devise lists for just over a month all I can think of is a Thornton's chocolate lollipop and a bag of chocolate coins...*hangs head in shame* and when I google stuff everything comes out at about a fiver, which is great if you don't mind having your stocking with literally 2 things in it...
ANY help and suggestions would be very much appreciated!

you can usually get pairs of novelty socks at xmas for £1/£2 in tesco / asda / matalan.
If they are into jewellery - you can get things about now / end of sale time in burtons and top man.
Cans of deoderant / shave gel / disposable razors.
Pants - primark for cheap but funky ones
hankies - primark - maybe even poundland0 -
i do a stocking for my OH every year.
it usually includes
*smellies
*socks
*dvds
*beer bottle or 2
*magazine or book
*sweets/chocs
it surprising what knick knacks you can find when you look. if you are doing more than one stocking then you can take advantage of bogofs as wellknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
might be worth visiting a poundshop if you have one near you? or a homebargains?
id be looking at filling them with socks, pants, mini showergels/deordrants, miniture spirits, keyrings, possibly little book (joke book?), also if it will fit you could probaly get a mug from one of these shops.
mypoundland usually has some dvds in too. there usually tacky horrors made in the 80's but occaisionally there is something decent in there.
ive seen on the grabit board that tescos are selling off there basic tools for a matter of pence (think i read a full tool kit was 23p!!!)
also if any of them are into gardening, wilkinsons/asda/tescos sell there seed packets off really cheap around the end of august/early september.

I really hate to be a killjoy but if money is really tight do you need to do stockings for adults? Most of the time you end up spending money on gimmicky things that they don't really want or won't get used. For the 3 stockings you have mentioned and yours if you hubby is doing one for you you could save £48 which is a fair amount of money. If you feel you must do them what about making things. You could do bookmarks which you could laminate, post it note holders, sock moneys etc. I'm sure if money is tight though people really would understand if there isn't a stocking done for them.

Picking up on the DVD idea - ASDA regularly has a "bargain bin" of DVDs for £2 or £3. There are quite often bargain CD bins as well.
Photobox do a variety of personalised photo gifts for under £10 (notebook, magnets, keychains, mousemats, mugs etc).

TBH I'd rather have one of those and a couple of other small things rather that lots of things that cost around £1 or £2 - but thats just my opinion.
