Ebay:What's the highest number of watchers you've had?

Most watchers I have had on a very non interesting item:D was a brand new swimsuit from debenhams had 30 watchers and it finally went for £22 from 99p starting bid, that was a rather unexpected bonus considering the item had been given to me!

I have 25 people watching a Lego train set at the moment, (100% complete & working, released in 2006, so its not vintage lego). It has bids of over £80.00 at the moment and finishes in a day or two.

I've got bidders in the high 20s watching one of my items. It's also been bid up to a point that concerns me a bit as I just don't think it is worth what people are bidding. The thing is i had my usual enquiries from Australia and I have two bidders from there who have got into a bidding war.

I've got 25 & 26 bidders on two similar items I'm selling, on Goofbay most popular they're currently 3rd & 4th most watched with bidders, with 4 1/2 days to go. The other 2 finish much sooner, one today.
Fingers crossed a few more will actually bid. Having just looked both are the highest value. I must admit that I will be happy with what they're on at the moment.
But happier still if they double.

I have a rare CD on ebay which has been on for two and half days and already has 28 watchers. I'll see what it goes up to by the end of the week. I have it starting at a low price so and already had a few bids so I'm hopeful that some of the watchers will be keen to bid - its valued at anything up to £200 and I've started it at £10.

Unfortunately watchers and bidders are two different things.

Selling experience on ebay soon teaches us that watchers are merely an indication of interest, but it's no indication of how serious that interest is.

The time to get excited is after the auction, when an item sells for far more than you ever expected! :j

I had well over 30 watchers on a £1.50 item recently, and it went for £25 in the end.

I have a listing with over 300 watchers.... but it doesn't really count as its a GTC that has been running for months

We've sort of come up with a rule of thumb, as follows:

• 10 or more is a good number of watchers, and is pretty much a minimum in order to be fairly sure of some bids,

and

• with luck, whatever the price is that you've achieved by an hour before auction end, you can reasonably hope for it to go up by half (or even double) by the winning bid

Neither of these are absolute truths, and there have been some surprising exceptions, but they mostly hold true for us, with what we sell and when we sell it.
