What was your favourite wedding present/gift?

We have a wedding to go to in a few weeks (I am an Usher and my partner is the Chief Bridesmaid).
We would like to get the Bride and Groom a special present but we are struggling for inspiration. We don't want to get them the usual champagne flutes etc - looking for something a little different....
Can any body help?

Depending on your budget there are tons of options ..Do you have hen/stag photos you could make into an album for them, or pics of them through their relationship even? (MSE) Or perhaps a weekend away for the 2 of them (not very MSE!) or something special for the wedding day like transport (a friend's h2b got a truck to take him and his groomsmen) or something they thought they couldnt afford so left out? Make up artist for the bride or a hipflask of whisky for the groom.
What about a guest book frame so they can get people to sign it on the day and put one of their wedding photos in?
Its not mega personal, but we got my sis and her hubs some things from the le creuset heart range for their 25th anniv as they wouldnt like the usual silver frames etc you often get and they were delighted as they are both keen cooks and foodies. I thought it still went with the romance theme so may be worth a nod. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creuset-Heart-Casserole-Litre-Cerise/dp/B00004SBIA for a look but ours were cheapest at 'Harts of Stur'.
Best of luck - you know them best - you will probably have a brainwave and excel yourselves!0 -
When my best friend got married I bought her a plate for all of the guests to sign - they are available from various different sources, but no-one at the wedding had seen one before so it had a different factor.0

A really unusual photo album - it was made from wood/handmade paper and dried flowers. Three years on and we still have no idea who bought it for us but it was lovely.
My inlaws bought us two books - Cocktail Bible for me and How Do Everything for the OH.
We also had an Oxfam Unwrapped list so got a couple of wedding goats

Honestly? Our favourite was a pair of Mr and Mrs mugs. Mainly because the girls and I had got ready in our hotel room the morning of the wedding and used all the cups having tea. Opening those mugs the next morning meant we could have a badly needed morning-after-the-night-before cuppa.

I think the present I've given that I've had the most thanks for was an 'experience day for two' voucher from lastminute. They could choose from 8 different experience days. I figured that once the wedding excitement was over it'd be nice to have something cool to look forward to.

Do they have a wedding list? I would start there.0

Unfortunately no wedding list.
Really would like to get them something them could keep. Was looking at paperweights that could be made from flowers a while a go (thinking flowers from the wedding) but didn't save a bookmark or anything.
Budget of around £50 or so, maybe a little more...
Thanks for the ideas so far.0 -

Maybe something you could work with here?
I also saw while I was nosing:
a barbeque or garden bench/loveseat somewhere if they have a garden of course
a voucher for a posh meal out for 2 at a nice restaurant,
wine that can be kept and will improve (ask merchant for advice) for them to have at 10th anniversary,
a hamper with things they may need for their honeymoon (if having one) like suntan lotion, luggage tags, flip flops (the ones that print just married in the sand are cute and fairly cheap on fleabay) or if theyre coming here to the Lake District make that rain hat, umbrella, spare dry socks :rotfl:
Something you make yourself - Painting, CD of romantic songs,a poem youve written for them0 -

When you say "here to the Lake District"... does that mean thats where you live? Only asking because we are getting married next year and wanting to find a cottage for a "minimoon" in the Lakes. if you have any suggested areas etc that would be great :j0
