Best websites for care sector jobs?

Hello All.

I am working on a DWP contract which Mr Cameron and Co have decided will be coming to an end. Obviously this is now the norm for people working on government related contracts and in the public sector.

A 30 day redundancy consultation period started on Friday and potentially 28 colleagues including myself could be made redundant in the middle of August.

I have decided to change my career direction totally as for the past 7 years I was moving from one boring office job to another. I am interested in the care sector now. Does anybody know of any specific websites that deal with this kind of sector?

PS One other thing. This is my first ever redundancy at 28. How did everybody cope with yours if you have ever gone through it? I was expecting this but it hasn't really sunk in yet!

Thanks

    Can you be more specific?
What type of service/client group are you interested in?

Here's some general pointers (from experience, NOT google):

    Great Social Care
    TotalJobs
Reeds (although I'd be careful with this one, as people have reported that jobs are not always genuine)
    https://www.communitycare.co.uk
Guardian Jobs /social care (I would not bother for entrace jobs)

Agencies (although if you don't have any experience it may be difficult to go though an agency, but worth finding out):
    Randstad
    Hayes
    Central Care

If you can give more details about what you would like to go I should be able to give you more specific info. :)

Thanks for the info so far. A few friends have told me about different levels or service users (disabled adults, the elderly etc) and what the pros and cons are. I think it would be this sector to be honest. I'm not sure if I could work with kids with challenging behaviour though.

Depending on what your previous job is, I would recommend trying to work sectors other than care homes and domicilliary care, as pay and conditions can be better.
Sheltered Housing, or floating support could be a good start. If your experience involves employment/advice/benefits it may be relevant.
