Revlon Mirror Mix-Up

Just bagged a £39.99 make-up mirror for £14.99.
The catalogue instore showed this one as No.12 for £14.99, whilst this one as No.13 for £39.99.
Went to the till to purchase the £14.99 and was told by the cashier that this one is magnified with a light.... which it is.
To cut a long story short the manager said they hadn't had time to put the stickers in the catalgue to show the error and that i would have to pay the difference for the correct one.
I advsd that they had entered into a contract with me as soon as they had took my money to supply me with the product as advertised, and that it was their error for not notifying me of the error prior to purchase.
I also advised that the info on the mirror given by the cashier reflects both mirrors.
She agreed and gave me the advertised product without further charge.
Well Happy.

  • Inspired by your post, I got the kids involved checking all the books in one of the Coventry stores we popped to, checking if theyed corrected the books. No joy it seemed, the ones we checked had been updated....

Went to Tamworth today to take me Mam out, walked passed Argos and just had to pop in and check the books ;) Low and behold, the first book I checked didn't have the sticker mod ! Winked at me Mam, "Look and learn" I said ;) Gave code to cashier ""Double sided illuminated mirror £14.99" she read from the screen. "Yes please". Paid up and waited. Wouldn't you just know it... the cheaper looking square mirror appeared for collection ! ;) "No, that's not the one, I was after the round one. " Mum ! Bring the book over and show the lady ! " " Oh, sorry, it's a printing error" she said. "Is it ?!!? Not in the book over there that I've just looked in or the one me Mam's holding !Oh well, I've paid for the round one as advertised now." :D

Got manageress over who turned out to be the one that took my money ! " I told you when you paid that this one had log illuminated strips on it " " Er, no you didn't, you said Double sided illuminated mirror £14.99, which this one is" :D

Meanwhile me Mam spots a member of staff at the book we'd looked at... Me Mam took a look when she'd moved from it and they'd there and then put the sticker amendment on it ! Was waiting for them to say that I was lying about the book not having the sticker !

Manager then said that she'd get the other mirror to see which one it was and what to do. Took forever !!! Told them, much to me Mam's disgust that I had to get her back to her home soon for her medication and could they please hurry up ! :D

Anyway's, the mirror I wanted eventually turned up, she offered to do a refund and re-sale. I was expecting them to refund the £14.99 then to charge me the £39.99 but no... one lovely round makeup mirror worth £39.99 for the misprice cost of £14.99 !!! :D

    Thanks saintscouple :D

I got this yesterday for £14.99 too (even though the books had the sticker overlay corrections in them).

When i paid the lady at the till said 'this is a double sided illuminated mirror' (which they both are), so i said yes please. Paid and waited, they sent down the revlon one. I said it wsa wrong and showed them in the book on their desk (which didnt have the sticker in) and they agreed it was wrong. They checked to see if there was a 'till update' (cant remember the term used) and then she said oh its incorrect in the book and there should be notices to say in the books. I told her there was but it still shows as no.12 being the round one at £14.99.

She came over with me to the book which had the correction stciker and she agreed that it still showed as i said. So they refunded and then sold me the champneys £39.99 one for £14.99. Result :j

Go back and get another 12 for ebay! Well done.
One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.

I would have done this a couple of years ago. If i spotted really good bargains i would put them on ebay for what it cost me plus a little to cover my fees (no profit), so that the buyer was getting a bargain too and hoping there might be more than one bidder so the price would rise and then i would make some profit.

I dont do it now though as things just dont seem to make the money anymore. Also my house has every nook and cranny filled theres just no room. We are having lots of work done (heating, radiators, loft) in about 3 months time and that is going to be a complete nightmare!!

I just look out for myself, friends and family now, especially with xmas coming up, the bargains we find looking on MSE are great.
