Do i need to pay

Before i went bankrupt in jan went in hospital for op on private health through my employer,we have to pay the first £200 of any claim .I paid the first £80 and now had a bill for the other £120 do i have to pay this it is for consultants fee all other payments have been paid by insurance can this be included in bankruptcy. thanks

    I think technically it would be included in the bankruptcy if it was owing at the time of your BR, and if you paid it then the OR would view it as treating one of your creditors with preference, however morally you had the op, which I should imagine would cost thousands, knowing that you only had to pay £200 as you are fortunate enough that your employer as Private Health cover for their employes, paid the £80 and now are not going to pay the balance.

    And I should imagine your employer will end up stumping up the £120 to maintain the policy.....Do they know about your BR?????

    I would think long and hard about your decision.

    Thanks for the answers dont know what to do really,private health is for all staff and no employer does not know of bankruptcy nor does anyone else

    Did the bill come from your employer, the health insurance firm or the hospital? If it was from the insurance or the hospital you should definitely talk to your OR about including it in the BR. If it's your employer, you should think about telling them about the BR.

    Hi the bill came from the consultant for the consultation before op part payed before i decided to go bankrupt all his other fees for op were paid by insurance thanks
