I wanna a illustrated book suitable for a 8 - 11 year old

My daughter is 8 and has recently started to read in bed to herself at night - Jill Murphy, Enid Blyton etc. However there appears to be a bit of a cut off between books for younger children which have thicker quality pages, illustrations and clear print with those for the next age range. Most of her books have line drawings, but few have illustrations that are inspiring or attention grabing. I want her to enjoy reading and want books that are interesting with quality paper and illustrations suitable for 8 - 11 age range. I have found several by an author/illustrator called Michael Foreman but would love suggestons from parents of books their children love and want to keep.
