"Scruffing" and "hanging" a cat is NOT barbaric or inhumane and sometimes is the only way of being able to manage a cat with significant handling issues. The other way is to use a crush cage (these are not nice either). There is never an excuse for hitting a patient - that is pure abuse. All my trainees only perform procedures they are allowed under RCVS rules for the same. I have a lot of qualified nurses and yes that does increase my costs but I think that is worth it for continuity. The biggest thing they have not covered is the lack of overnight care of patients in most UK practices. I have staff in overnight but most do not. I wonder if clients are made aware of this - I am suspecting not as there is no rule which states that practices must do so - I'm campaigning for one.Garantissez-moi de mes amis, je saurai me defendre de mes ennemis0

Covered today by Daily Mail online. I couldn't continue reading it, let alone watch it.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1296672/Medivet-undercover-investigation-sick-animals-abused-pet-owners-ripped-trainees-carry-life-death-procedures.html

I'd rather not watch it, but anything thats done should be able to be done in full public view. I'd be quite happy for anyone to spend a morning in my surgery, as long as they can put up with the odd sweary word.
In fact it makes me think I should run "behind the scenes" visits a bit like those at San Diego Zoo etc and charge for the privilege! I'm thinking £20 for a morning. perhaps they could clean some kennels for the full effect as well. I smell opportunity!
Maybe if I had some observers then someone would have seen who cut my cats' whiskers off when she went in for some blood tests (none of the staff will own up)

You put so much trust in a person that they have not just the qualifications, but the care and love to treat all the animals they look after with the respect that they each deserve. Im sure most vets are really brilliant, but there is so much that we dont see.0

Dreading this programme, partly because I expect I won't like what I see and partly because I can predict the public backlash with the big old tar brush coming out over the whole profession.

I certainly won't be watching this biassed BBC rubbish tonight!
I have a little inside information on this, and the BBCs tactics in getting footage was far from professional (downright dirty to be precise)! It's amazing what lengths they go to to make good TV at the expense of others, and yet there will be gullible people who will watch this and believe everything they're seeing.
By all means watch, but don't believe everything the media brainwash you with.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I cant watch anymore.

I know things like this are heavily edited etc to make the company look as bad as possible but they couldn't fake what was happening to that dog? I was nearly in tears watching them do that
 Think happy & you'll be happy
I :heart2: my doggies

I was very apprehensive about watching this programme for two reasons, firstly I never want to see any form of abuse and secondly editing does wonders for media hype.
However, I am watching it now and my heart goes out to that poor dog and their owners - I am not sure that it was fair though to show the owners the footage. If i ever saw footage of poor treatment of my animals i would feel heart broken that i had failed them.
Don't think i can watch any more !0
