found the dress! but...

it's much much more than I was expecting to pay....

This one is from True Bride and retails at £650. The shop is offering me a 15% discount if I order before the end of the month and I was only budgeting to spend £150 so it's a teeeeeeeny bit over the budget.

OH says we can afford it and I love it but being the practical MSE self, I don't really need to buy a new dress and it seems excessive to pay that for a few hours.

Any ideas on how to get a similar dress for cheaper?

It's made from chiffon with a sweetheart neckline, assymetric ruching, contrasting embroidery. It's got a lace-up back and boned corset in it.

  • have you tried looking on one of the bridal websites, Im sorry Im new here and dont know of any but im sure someone will come along and help soon,

I too fell in love with a dress so much more than I wanted to spend, I was very lucky though my parents were paying and my Dad fell in love with the dress too and sat there with my Mum both with tears in their eyes so they decided that the cost didnt matter to them. Yes I know I am so very lucky.

I love the dress you have chosen its gorgeous. I will do a search and see what I can come up with. However if your OH says you can afford it I personally would go with the dress that you love.

Hope someone can find it cheaper for you though and then you will be even happier
  • Personally i'd say buy it, but, i'd s[pend a couple of days seeing if I could get it cheaper elsewhere.
It's your wedding dress and you'll only do it once

I would find out the make and model of the dress then look on ebay and preloved. You could also go and post on frannyanns thread as she is very good at finding things. You could always sell the dress on after the wedding and make some of the money back or tell the shop you had only budgeted £450 could they throw the petti or tiara/veil in too

plenty of stockists to ring round and get a quote from you can say you were quoted slightly under what you have been see if they will go lower then find someone else and ask what they can do on price. Play them off against each other and see what happens. Or did the sample fit you in the shop you could always see if they have a sale in a few months time. Stalk the place out daily lol

Had a quick scout on ebay, nothing on their at the moment like yours, but there are several "true bride" dresses on their at the moment, so its worth while keeping an eye out.

    How long til your wedding?

  • Thanks all.

The wedding isn't until January and I'm 5'6" so if there isn't time for alterations I can just teeter around in 3" heels for the day. :)

I went on a big hunt yesterday and it seems a lot of Maggie Sottero dresses are similar and there are LOADS of those for sale everywhere so I might go and try a few of those to increase my choices.

I spoke to OH long and hard about it and we've decided to spend any extra I save on my dress to invite more friends to celebrate (or to decorate the house!)
