AC'97 Sound Card

Hello all, this is my first post so please be gentle.
I have a computer at work that is running on Windows ME, and everytime I play anything with sound, (music, video) it sounds like Pinky & Perky on speed! i.e very fast.
It has a AC'97 Sound card in it, is there any kind of setting that can change the speed of the sound or do I simply need a new sound card? Thanx all

1.go into windows media player
2.click on the view menu
3.then go to enhancements
4.then click show enhancements (then if the menu dissapears, repeat steps 2+3
5. then click play speed setting and ajust the slider to 1.0 or click normal
this may not be correct as i did this with media player 90 -
