I've been mystery shopping for nearly two years now. I've never had a problem with an assignment before but I recently completed a shop and then checked my account on that particular website today and it said that it had been rejected. No one contacted me to tell me this or gave any reason. Is this common with certain companies? (I don't know if I'm allowed to mention the company.)
if it is the petrol one then it my be something to do with the message on the GAP homepage.
If not...... sorry, I don't know!0 -
Oh well I suspect I will be getting "the email" from gyp next week, did a chicken shop for them today and the only thing I can be positive about was the food was fine. It was a drive through visit and I waited well over a minute to get served at the speaker then about the same time at the collection window before anyone came to it when my food was "passed" out to me with no interaction at all!!
I am trying to write up all what happened and give as much info as I can but I suspect this might be the end of a beautfull friendship
From what I have read of people who have been sacked before they pay you ok for what shops you have already done for them and submitted the report?0 -

I got the boot out of the blue this week without doing anything wrong. I have only done a few jobs for them and have never had any problems but I don't do the fast food ones. I live in a semi rural area so hopefully they will regret it sometime soon when they have no one who will do the stamps and corner shops in the depth of the countryside :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I would love to do a chicken job here (the last ones got snatched up) because I've never been served in less than 5 minutes, then spend another 5 mins sat next to the speaker because the queue is jammed up in front. I might not work for very long afterwards, but I'd certainly have a lot to say about themMoving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0 -

Oh I forgot to mention I was the only car in the drive thru at the time :rotfl:!!! I stopped at the speaker box thingy to be greeted by a "be with you in a minute" and then I was sitting there in glorious silence for the next minute and a bit. Had I been there as a "proper" customer I would not have waited (and yes I said that in the short essay I have written them about what happened)0 -

I did one recently where I got "be with you in a minute" at the speakerbox and it was the bast part of 5 minutes before they got back to meThey then told me to park up and wait ... and wait ... and wait. They finally strolled out with my food after about 20 minutes  There was only one other car in the drive thru at the time although I'm surprised they actually had any customers.

Hi I am new here and am having a massive panic.
I recently joined up to a Mystery Shopping website, I took an assignment and am due to be payed in a week's time. Having read these threads I have gone into a massive panic over having to declare all this to the tax/NI people. I am only 19 and am really confused by it all as I have never done anything like this before. I really don't want to have to fill out an annual tax assessment as I would just end up pulling my hair out as I don't really understand what will be asked and no doubt will have no idea what to put. So I have two questions, if I apply for the Certificate of Small Earnings Exception will I still have to fill out a annual tax assessment? If so, on average how long does it take to fill them out? For the one MS I have done so far all I had to do was make two small drinks purchases, print out the info and questionnaire and get a return ticket on the bus. I got reimbursed for the drinks and got paid a fee of £5. Would this equal quite a large amount of work for the annual assessment?
I am in absolute panic mode right now and I am really tempted to just leave the MS job as I don't know if I can actually cope with doing all this tax stuff myself without any help. So my other question is, how on earth do I leave the company? I have looked around everywhere on their site and can't find anything. I don't really care if I lose out on the money I should get from my first assignment.
If anyone can help me please do respond ASAP.0 -

Cheeky!
She's busy over the summer hols with non-MS stuff, so I though I'd do her a favour.I recently joined up to a Mystery Shopping website, I took an assignment and am due to be payed in a week's time. Read the first posts above as they will give you some help on what you need to do.
Tax and NI are two seperate things.
NI is a weekly amount that can be paid in different ways. I'm on a monthly direct debit for it. However if you are earning under approx £4500 from MS work, you can claim exemption and not pay it.
Are you working and paying NI through another job? If so it's worth claiming the exemption certificate. If not, consider paying the NI as it counts towards benefits you might need in the future such as sickness and maternity payments, and your state pension (although I know that is a long way off right now!).
Tax - you will have to complete the self assessment form but it's really not that scary. If you earn under approx £15K, you can fill in a short form where you just copy your final accounts figures across. There are other sections to fill in for personal details, any earnings from employment (copy from P60) and any other income such as bank interest. The tax website does all the calculations for you and tells you what you need to pay or if you are lucky, what they owe you. It's really not as scary as it sounds.
Happy this morning because I got a book job. Book shops are my favourite type of shop :jHere I go again on my own....0
