Campbell soup recipes

Can anyone help an old fogie? Long ago, I used to make a pasta dish based on a recipe from a Campbells condensed mushroom soup tin. The pasta ingredient was tagliatelli, with fried bacon and button mushrooms added in the overall final mix.

The sauce ingredients started with a piece of brie melted in milk in a pan, to which you added the condensed mushroom soup and chives. This is where my memory lets me down. I am pretty certain that there was another ingredient, but I can't remember whether it was natural yoghurt, sour cream, or full or half cream.

I've spent ages checking Google out, but can't find this particular recipe. I could, I suppose, try the recipe with each of the yoghurt and cream possibilities and see which tastes best, but I just wondered if anyone here might still have this old Campbells' recipe and be able to give me the correct answer. In fact, if possible, the actual recipe might be useful, too - what I do remember of it may well be an old man's false memory! TIA

a site that use cambells soup as a basis for recipes is called Cambells Kitchen. I use it all the time for a cheesy chicken rice bake using a can of chicken soup. You might find what you are looking for amongst the other recipes! Word of warning its an american site so some of the ingredients I've not heard of. Couldn't find a british one as cambells condensed soups are now made by batchelors!

Sorry I wasnt able to post the link.

There is a batchellors site but not sure how may of the recipes use the soup. There are however some great ideas I will try and post the link-

I have a couple of recipes taken from the Campbells soup labels ages ago.

I`ll have a look for them and get back to you.

E.T.A. Found a mushroom/pasta one but it doesn`t have brie in it. Maybe you could adapt it ?

    Tagliatelle pasta feast.

    Ingredients
    2 tblsp olive oil
    4oz mushrooms, sliced
    2oz mixed peppers,diced
    6 fl oz milk
    1 chopped onion
    6oz bacon pieces
1 can condensed soup – mushroom or chicken
    8oz tagliatelle
    Grated cheese

Fry onion, mushrooms bacon and peppers in oil until tenderthen add soup and milk. Stir slowly for 5-10 minutes. Meanwhile bring a pan of slightly salted water to the boil and cook tagliatelle. Drain and add to the mushroom mixture. Stir together well then put in a casserole dish, cover with grated cheese and finish off under the grill till the cheese is melted.

The other one I have is a chicken one in chicken soup so not the one you are looking for.

Oh that sounds divine, i love brie.

I tend just to use the soup on its own and add to cooked pasta but will try this.

I may work with cream very well, maybe a splash of wine too.

    Many thanks for the replies.
Holly - I did find that Campbells Kitchen site during my searches, but not the particular recipe I wanted. The problem, I think, is that each new batch of the soups came with a different recipe on the label and, if so, I imagine the one I wanted, being so old, is buried too deep in the archives!

Elf - I think that was another of the sites I visited. Didn't see what I wanted, but may well go back for a deeper look.

psso - my recipe definitely had brie cheese in it, and the yoghurt or cream ingredient. But yours looks nice, so I've copied it - thanks.

Out of interest, and after posting, I did find 3 recipes using tagliatelli - one for lemon chicken, one called Alfredo, and the third for creamy tagliatelli gratin. That last one uses brie! It's not the one I had in mind, though, but it sounds yummy. And 2 of them use single or double cream, the other creme fraiche. None of them, however, use condensed soup! Seems I was probably wrong about yoghurt being an ingredient - that's one off the list of unknowns, thank goodness.

Yes, I`ve made it a few times for fundraising.
Called it `guessing cake` and we charged people to have a taste and guess at the mystery ingredient with a whole one as the prize.

It turns out a bit orangey looking but tastes ok, not tomato-ey though.

I'm showing my age here but I remember it from Blue Peter. There are some opinions on it here.
