Advice about covering letter

I have seen a job that I wish to apply for and it says the application must be in the form of a completed Application Form and a covering letter.

Can anyone please give me some advice on what I need to write in the letter?

Basically in the covering letter explain

The reasons why you have applied for the job ie. this position will allow me to use my skills in..., I am excited by the challenges this position would give me etc etc

Also point our how your skills, knowledge, experience match what they are looking for

It should also be hand written, more personal than a CV and it will show them a little bit of your character.

No way! :eek: I really, really wouldn't advise hand writing a covering letter. It needs to look professional and no matter how good your hand writing is, typing is always better.

Always end the covering letter by saying "I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the position further at interview."
