Hi everyone, im completley new so please dont shout if i have posted in the wrong section.
I have started to be chased by HFO financial services, and i have read a lot of reviews regarding their bad practises.
My debt regards a student account i had with barclays in 2004. I was wondering is this debt still enforceable?
Please help - rreally required

Hi Nevlaw,
Depending on when there was any money paid into the account or acknowledgement of the debt in writing or via a payment, the debt may be statute barred. To be statute barred there has to be a six year gap between the last payment or written acknowledgement etc. The best thing for you to do would be to get a copy of your credit file online (free for up to 30 days but be sure to cancel it before the end of the 30 day period) to see if there is any default regarding this account on your credit file. You may find it's close to the 6 year period which is why they are trying to contact you or it could be over the 6 years and they're trying to get you to pay.If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.
