I have really dry/damaged hair (years of colouring...) and spend a fortune on those intensive conditioners/conditioning masks.
Anyone know of a cheap home-made alternative??

There will possibly already be the answer you're looking for on the Beauty Board
I'll move this over later.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. I heard that olive oil is quite good if you put it on and wrap your hair in a warm towel for 20 mins, then rinse. Mind you I'd probably avoid putting it right on the roots!
Another one I heard is just putting on tonnes of your regular conditioner, tie your hair back/ wrap it in clingfilm and leave it as long as possible, even overnight before washing it out!0 -
Any oil can be used. Olive, coconut (it naturally comes solid so will have to gently warm it), grapeseed, wheatgerm, rapeseed, sunflower etc etc (you can even add essential oils such as chamomile, tea tree, lavender and geranium.
Overripe avacado's (beaten with oil)
egg yolks (beaten with oil as an option)
Slop as much as you can on and wrap in clingfilm then in a warm towel or for a few mins sit under a warm hairdryer, keep it on as long as possible or overnight and wash out with NEAT baby shampoo.
Coconut oil makes an excellent leave in conditioner, its one of the lightest oils available so good if you have dry ends.0 -

If you steep nettletops in hot but not boiling water then sieve the liquid into a suitable container this make a good conditioner.
I used to use this when I had dry permed hair and it worked a treat.
You might want to wear gloves when picking the nettles mind you lol.
