Selling on original artwork

(Apologies if this isn't the right board, but I couldn't see where else it might fit)
I have a painting that I bought years ago from a landscape painter who is pretty well shown in commercial galleries in Scotland, but I no longer have room for it in my house.
I was wondering about selling it but didn't know the best way ot go about it. Paintings by this artist of this size go for around £300 in local galleries in these parts, but I didn't know what to expect if I was lucky enough to find a private buyer either.
Any ideas?
Thanks

You could try a fine art auctioneer. They could probably give you an estimate of probable sale price if they auction it. Don't forget you'll pay commission plus VAT on sale plus the cost of getting painting to auctioneer, which could be high seeing your location. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

If the Galleries are selling for around the £300 mark don't forget you're likely to get a lot less.
Rather like the price a car dealer asks but if you were to sell a similar car you'd have to sell cheaper.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
