Possible skin cancer

Hi
Well, where to start.
I am not 100% sure but I have a myth that I might have skin cancer.
For the past year, I have got a lot more skin problems, I have had around 4 new moles in the past 12 months and a odd patchy dry skin area.
Notably most of the skin imperfections, and moles are on my arms and neck.
Now, before the obvious is stated, to go to a doctor let me say, I hate needles and don't feel able to allow a blood sample to be taken
I am wondering if anyone knows a way blood can be taken either while you are put out (Yes, it is that bad) or under drugs that would make you feel woozy.
I have been admitted to hospital six times for fainting and banging my head through blood being taken, even through having gas and air and nerve calming drugs.
Sorry to sound a complete woos! :rotfl:

A doctor won't be interested in taking blood. The way they diagnose skin cancer is by looking at your skin!
Go to a doctor, or start making funeral arrangements. Your choice.0 -
Go to your GP as soon as you can. As has been said, it is very unlikely that any diagnosis would need blood tests - a biopsy maybe.
If you have skin cancer, then the prospect of the possible outcome is more serious than a needle phobia.0 -
Please go to your doctor's, I had a mole that had grown and had become itchy, I worried about it for ages and put off going to the doctors as I was scared of what he would say. I eventually went, he examined it, no blood was taken, he just referred me to the hospital. A few weeks later I went to hospital, saw the specialist (still no blood taken) he examined the mole just by looking at it and feeling it, and he said there was nothing to worry about.0

I had exactly the same thing last week with a patch of skin on my back that had become a bit 'crusty' (lovely!!:D).
Went to Dr, he sent me to specialist, he told me nothing to worry about.
Not even a rubber glove in sight, never mind a needle or knife.
On the other hand - my Nan (mum's mum) was very Dr phobic. She died of a cancer that could have been easily treated had she told someone about it when she first started having symptoms 6 YEARS before! (She only told us she'd been getting these symptoms for so long when it was too late)
GO AND GET IT LOOKED AT!!!!!!How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Please get this looked at. Like everyone else says it will probably turn out to be nothing (been there myself) but my mums sister died on skin cancer, she was 27.
It could have easily been treated if she had sought help.
Let us know how it goes
xxI have realised I will never play the Dane!
Where are my medals? Everyone else on here has medals!!

Hi sassy-one,
I'm not sure where you are in the country, however there is a company in London (possible elsewhere too) called "The Mole Clinic". I've been there myself and they take incredibly high definition photos of the mole(s) (and can also see the layers below). The images are then sent to a consultant who examines them and lets you know the outcome.
Not a needle in sight. It did cost about £45 but for me that was well worth paying to avoid the normal wait to see a doctor.
HTH. But like everyone says, please do get it checked out somewhere.

There is no need to worry. I have had moles investigated on two occasions. One went to the specialist who just peered at it through a magnifying glass before declaring it OK. The second time the doctor put some gell on it and identified it as a build up of sebacious stuff. Best to get it checked out. There is definitely no pain involved.Je suis sabot...0
