Capital One

Me again, busy tonight.

I defaulted on a card with them last year theres a bit over £700 outstanding. I had letters from various debt collecting agencies before at some point receiving one saying it has been passed back to capital one, that was earlier this year.

They still send me an e-statement each month but I can't view it.

I wrote to them last week offering repayment terms of £50 per month. They have wrote back today to me stating that a debt collection agency is now dealing with the account, (dont state who) so i should make repayment arrangements with them when they contact me. It does however say that if I want to I can still make payments direct to them in the meantime.

Which is what I have just done this evening, i've transferred £50 by online banking to the details they provided.

Is there anything to be wary of here? Should I wait for the debt collection agency to get in contact or shall i just carry on paying capital one direct each month which im happy to do.

The balance hasn't changed on my credit report and shows defaulted in july last year at £735 and shows as up to date up to the start of this month.

Again thanks in advance.

    Hi,

It will probably be easier to pay the money direct to Capital One, particularly if the interest has been frozen on the account. If you are contacted by a debt collection agency tell them this is what you intend doing and if they don't accept this contact Capital One for clarification.

Good luck in getting it sorted out
If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

Thanks for that, the best option I think, at least that way i will have it on my bank statement and the card number its gone to incase of any future queries.
