Landlord's flat being repossessed

Hi, i while ago i put a post on here saying myself and my partner were unsure wether to continue saving for a deposit or start renting and after much though we decided to rent. We moved into a flat 8 weeks ago and all was going great and we have never been so happy...untill last week. Our flat is being repossessed, HM revenue and customs have seized all our Landlord's assessts and we have had to find somewhere to live. We spoke to the estate agents who told us we should find somewhere to live, which we have, but are obviosuly furious and upset that we have to find money to move.

The estate agents have said they wont help with any costs so we are having to pay for a removal van, paying a new estate agent's fees, having sky put into the new place despite only getting it in a few weeks ago, buying new blinds despite having bought them a 4 weeks ago, cutting new keys etc etc etc. What i would like to know is is there anyway we can ask the landlord to pay these costs? The rational part of my brain says he obviously has no money so can't pay but i am disgusted that we are the ones that have to be out of pocket. Has anyone else been in a similar situation

Thanks,
Laura

best advice is to talk to shelter about your rights. I suspect your tennancy is still valid until the end of the fixed term. The EA may *want* you to move but I am not sure they can *make* you.

Was your deposit protected so you at least get that back?

Thanks for your reply. Yeah our deposit was protected which is one good thing i suppose.

We are a little bit worried about the rent we paid in advance though, we were told by 2 people in the estate agents to pay the rent on wednesday, which we reluctantly did. We do not have the internet in so could not check this sight to see if others had done the same. We spoke to another estate agents on friday who said we should never have done this and we are unlikely to get it back! :( So we went along to our original E.A who said the woman who is on holiday "should have put a hold on the account" but we won't find out until tuesday. Nobody seemed to know what was happening, and i am really worried they will have sent the LL the money and that is the last we will see of it.
