Just not worth buying. They have too many way out clauses and almost anything can be considered failure due to wear & tear (which is excluded).

Range Rover does not have a very good reputation for being reliable. So unless you're buying directly from dealer (where you'll get some warranty by law) you need to set aside some money for unforseen maintenance/repair.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

Is this an early L322 or a late P38A?

I wouldn't touch a P38A, they are just too problematical.

L322s are a lot better but they are hugely complex beasts and expensive to repair.

If you haven't already bought it I suggest you carefully measure the depths of your pockets.

I can't agree with you. I bought a 1996 P38A diesel in 2000 and it's been brilliant. It's had a new heater blender motor and air springs but that's about all. It gets a service once a year and is now showing 180,000 miles. Regularly tows a huge caravan and plant trailers.

I've also got a seriously abused Discovery, a 110, 2 series III and 3 series IIa. So I am a bit prejudiced.
