I would like to pick some brains out there as I see this as totally unfair, maybe you can help.
I moved to France 5 years ago with my husband ( soon to be ex) and our 2 children. my son was born in the years that you could claim a one of amount for saving, but the uk have said he can't have it as he doesn't now live in the uk. He did live in the uk until almost 2 years old and is still a British citizen and will one day return there.
This really gets my goat
Can anyone tell me if he is entitled and how I can claim it.
Thank you

It's a benefit that is payable to residents of the UK. You and your son have moved away from the UK, and therefore are not residents, and so he doesn't qualify. It's not an eligibility to citizens only, but to children in the country whose parent or carer is receiving child benefit and meeting the residency requirements.
When you move from one country to another, you really cannot expect to receive entitlements in both countries just because you are a citizen. You are obviously resident in France, contributing to the French system, and so would benefit from any similar program operating there.0
