Order of Service for a Civil Ceremony

Please can you advice me on what is needed in a order of service? I am looking for what we do during the ceremony i.e for music.

Do you give your guests a printed copy of the order of service.

Also what is a wedding program is this the same thing

Please help

I am just planning on printing a card for each adult guest, maybe to put on each chair for when they are seated. It will say something like
you are invited to join us in celebrating our wedding on the date and the location
    then timings for
    ceremony start
    drinks reception
    meal and speeches
    evening do
    evening buffet
    carriages (finish time)

My mum has suggested if we are going to have unusual readings or music during the ceremony we should include this too but i am undecided as of yet!

    Hope this helps :)

You don't have to have an order of service for a civil ceremony. I'm having one because I like them and they make a nice keepsake. I'm putting the order everything happens in, the music used during our ceremony, the names and authors of our readings and who the readers are, the names of the registrar marrying us, names of our witnesses and all members of the wedding party. Also, on the back cover there is a short thank you message for everyone who came and a 'we remember those who couldn't be with us today' message for my dad. And a wedding program is the same thing (it's the American term). Hope this helps. xx
